FAQs

Welcome to our FAQ page, where you'll find answers to some of the common questions we receive. If you can't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us for further assistance.

How do we know if we really need a rewire?

The condition of the installation will depend on its age, the level of wear and tear and the quality of the original installation. It is often the case that installations carried out as long ago as the 1970’s can be brought up to current standards without the upheaval and cost of a rewire. We can advise on the most cost effective way to bring your installation up-to-date.

How can we be sure that you know what you are doing?

This is an important question that more people should ask before committing to electrical work. Natec Electrical Solutions are approved by the The Electrical Contractors Association and Part 'P' ELECSA. This means that we have demonstrated that our work is of the highest standard and that we have the qualification and resource to maintain that standard. We undergo an annual review by an ELECSA engineer who can select and inspect various types of our installations at random.

Do you belong to any Electrical Industry Associations ?

Yes we are members of the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA). This association monitor's the work of its members and are there to advise and assist the electrical companies to carry out good work. The contractors work is randomly checked and if shoddy work is found, that contractor will not be allowed to be a member of that association.

Why Carry Out Portable Appliance Testing?

Portable Appliance Testing ensures that the equipment is safe to use and complies with the H & S requirement on electrical appliances. This is a statutory requirement for all establishments with over 5 employees.

What Indicates That I Might Need An Electrical Test?

Look out for Frequent failures of systems, lights and repaired fuses or circuit breaker tripping. Overheating cables, sockets and plugs with brittle cable insulation. Inadequate lighting with frequent lamp changes, arcing and crackling light switches. Multiple extension leads, adaptors and more than one lead in a plug.

What is Part P?

This is a relatively new regulation brought in to protect the public from unqualified electricians. You should always ask to see the certificate.
